Review on πŸͺ‘ M14x1.5 Oil Pan Thread Repair Kit by Time-Sert by Hayden Hart

The drill should fit a standard cordless drill chuck but provide a reliable repair.

Other reviews cover this product pretty well but my only gripe is that for $130 each of the tools should fit in the same standard cordless drill chuck. You need a different jig for each approx, which is frustrating as these repairs are more or less demanding and the inability to insert tools (namely a drill) into a cordless drill chuck makes an accurate repair very difficult. I used a standard socket adapter to use a 12 point socket in combination with a drill as recommended by Time-sert. However, using the adapter allowed too much play and the result was a slightly crooked hole, which was a problem as the oil drain plug could not provide a flat sealing surface (I had to use Permatex's The Right Stuff for my bolt). to achieve a leak-free repair). If the drill would fit snugly in my drill chuck, that wouldn't be a problem. I suggest buyers find some sort of oversized screw tightening chuck adapter to mitigate this problem, but you will still be drilling a long distance from chuck to hole. was created, inserting the bush and drilling it was no problem. I used Time-Sert threadlock (which appears to have been renamed Loctite) to seal the external threads. The renovation looks very solid, if lopsided, and it's definitely not going anywhere anytime soon. I installed an oil drain valve so I'll never have to run a bolt through that thread again.
