Worked wonders!: Spark Plug Thread Repair Kits

I had to deduct a star because when trying to install the inserts want to stay on the inserter so the job takes MUCH longer. But a good tip as you can see from the photos is to use plenty of lube to hold as many chips as possible to make cleaning the cylinder easier.

Saved me a lot of money (Ford F-150 2003 XLT 4.6L)

It works! Tip: Be sure to check out some Youtube videos on how to use it. Use lube in the grooves of the faucet to catch the shavings (if you leave the motor intact) - get a cheap endoscope to check the depth of the bushing and the condition of the newly cut threads (you can get ones that are connect to android phones at Revain for about $35 ) - Use a piece of tape around the socket extension as a flag to count the turns when installing the socket (should match the number of turns), it was 14…

    Works well and easily

With a small Kohler engine, removing the head was easy. This prevents metal chips. Never used, only heard about it. Well it wasn't difficult. Insert a smaller diameter tap into the "old" thread, this will help make the alignment accurate to 90°*. And then continue working as soon as it reaches a larger diameter in the faucet, there too slowly and with lots of lubricant (any will do). I used a plug to start a repair thread into the new hole, it was difficult to get to. Then I finished…

GREAT tool for a known problem! Saves a lot of money too!

What can I say about this tool! $30+ vs $900+? No, it's understandable. I refurbished my 2004 F-150 (4.6L v8) with a little time and patience! Driven over 6000 km and still on the way! Make sure to put LOTS of lube on the faucet and SLOWLY cut the steps back and forth, cleaning the faucet every 2 or 3 turns. A cheap telephone scope is great for knowing how deep to screw the insert in! Using RED Permanent Lock-tite and a 24 hour repair permit to grab the glue was all I needed to complete my DIY…

Worked great to fix a Ford kit engine with a blown spark plug.

Worked great to fix a burned out spark plug on the Crown Vic 4.6LA. Don't lose the injector O-rings. I ran the faucet through some lube to try to catch the aluminum shavings and flushed the faucet frequently (2-3 full turns and then back) with gasoline and brake cleaner and reapplied the lube. I'm sure the vast majority of the chips have been captured. Be careful how deep you install the replacement sleeve. It seems very easy to screw the bushing in too far, which in theory could put the new…

    Save money on lawnmower repairs!

Very easy to use to rethread the spark plug hole on a 190cc Briggs & Stratton lawnmower engine. When I was mowing, the spark plug completely flew out of the engine. Upon further inspection, the threads in the spark plug hole were worn and not sealing well. This tool fixed it. The tap has two sets of threads: a narrow one at the end and a larger diameter one a little further back. Insert the smaller end into the spark plug hole and use a ratchet to slightly upgrade the thread. Go ahead and use a

Easily Repair Burnt Out Spark Plug Ford

Used for 2005 Ford F150 with 4.6L engine. With a blown #3 spark plug it worked perfectly. Make sure the piston is at bottom dead center. To determine this I used a large plastic plug that appeared to be stuck in the spark plug tube and had a small gasket. I crawled under the truck and turned the engine over, which felt like an eternity as it's difficult but possible to get at the crank pins with the suspension and housing. When both valves in the engine are closed and the piston at the bottom…

What you need to know! good for spark plug thread repair kits

I have used this great product on an aluminum headed lawnmower engine that had a cross threaded spark plug and I did it without removing the head. This is how I applied it Put a thick grease on the threads of the hammer to make the metal shavings stick to it, then take a piece of cloth and apply grease to it until it is completely saturated, placing the piston at the bottom of its stroke to shut it leaving room for the tap, then slide the grease-soaked cloth through the spark plug hole, the…

I used this great product on an aluminum headed lawnmower engine that had a cross threaded spark plug and I did it without removing the head so I did it like this. Lubricate the threads of the tap to help the metal shavings stick to it. Then take a piece of fabric and apply grease to it until completely saturated. Place the piston at the bottom of its stroke to clear the cock, then slide the greased rag through the spark plug hole. The grease on the rag makes the metal shavings stick to the…
