I used to buy other devices to prevent backflow. This is the first thing I've had that has water released. I didn't feel like my (rollback) hose was drying out and splashing water everywhere. It's probably my fault for not addressing this, but it wasn't clearly stated that you and anyone nearby would get wet. You literally have to run or you will get wet when you turn off the water. Anything near the clogged hose gets wet every time you unplug the hose. There are other products on the market that do the same job of preventing backflow, but without a proper shower, you're shutting off the water supply to the hose (when your hose squeezes when there's no water pressure in it). Tip: Buy another one that doesn't allow for backflow and drain that type of hose with a hose, usually from a nozzle, to relieve the pressure after the water is shut off. If you have another good brand and don't care if your hose fills with water and doesn't shrink to a comfortable size, leave it full of water. I threw mine away. It wasn't worth soaking me and anything near my bib when using my hose.
