This game is perfect for our family. I'm sure it helped that they're both quite familiar with the Pete the Cat books, but they got into this game right from the start! My 6 year old picked up on the rules right away, and my 4 year old caught on not too long after.The materials are all very durable, and I really liked that the squeezer required some strength to use; definitely good for developing their fine motor skills.One last thing: my 4 year old is ultra-competitive, and every time she had to give away one of her shapes or empty her game board, she refused. This game will help her to play by the rules whether she's winning or losing. If not, she'll end up like her old man and just be a sore loser.
