This does not reflect the notebook itself, Microsoft is Microsoft. When delivered, their idle temperatures reach 70-80 degrees Celsius. Yes, you read it right. Windows 10 implements a protocol that only uses 2 processors out of 6 when idle, which works pretty well for a PC but is a thermal nightmare for a laptop. No panic. A small adjustment of the max CPU state from 100% to 99% should fix this issue and there are some YouTube videos showing you how to do it. Do this first thing after installing all OS and graphics card updates. Second, toggle the global setting in the NVIDIA Control Panel in 3D Controls from "auto" to "NVIDIA preferred". Third, make sure you give those rear fans some breathing room - I give them about 1.5 inches off the ground. These three things last about 90 seconds and they gave me a standby temperature of 39 degrees. Other sources will tell you an under voltage using ThrottleStop or UTX (these machines are below 0.125V from the factory). It's up to you which route you take, but you should definitely change your power management settings whether you choose to manually under-voltage or not, as Windows 10 will fry your machine if you don't. Otherwise I'm very happy with this laptop and you get a lot of fun for your money.
