Review on KeylessOption Keyless Control Replacement HLO1J0959753F by Wayne Burkett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The key works great.

Key works exactly as advertised, appears to be identical in quality and function to the original. I was able to cut it at a local locksmith for $30 and program the buttons myself in about 5 minutes using the instructions from several reviews here. Note, however, that if your car has an immobilizer, self-programming the buttons, which only takes a few minutes, will not get the key to start the car. This is not Keyless Option's fault as they clearly state that the key needs to be programmed by the dealer. Apparently I didn't read the reviews or didn't look at the reviews enough. Based on the reviews read, programming the key wasn't that difficult, I consider myself very tech savvy so I ordered the key without hesitation. I've since discovered that key programming is a cinch that everyone should be doing, but pairing the key to the car so the key disables the immobilizer is a MUCH different beast. If your car has an immobilizer, the ONLY WAY to get the key to start the car is to put it in your car at the dealer "or" if you have the VCDS diagnostic software (or similar) AND the one that comes with it The key has a 4-digit PIN. Car, you can program this key for your car's immobilizer yourself in about an hour or less. I have the VCDS and correct cable for my car as it is very useful for many other VW diagnostics and repairs, however my son bought this car used and never received the PIN. Unfortunately I can't program the key myself so you know how it was. has an immobilizer if built after 2000, with a few exceptions. after 2002 it really is like that. To find out if you have an immobilizer, start the car and look at the dash gauges (I have them on top of the tachometer). If you have an immobilizer, the orange car with the key icon in the center will flash briefly. (I've never noticed that in 8 years). VCDS lite costs around $100 in my opinion plus a cable suitable for your car (You must have a laptop or laptop to connect to the car's OBD port. Hopefully this will help you decide whether to put the dongle in your situation actually works
