This T-ring helps secure the Nikon F-mount camera body to the telescope associate. Depending on the telescope, you usually need another part: T-adapter with thread = sr_1_8?keywords=t-adapter&qid=1579581211&s=electronics&sr=1-8) or 2" focal T-adapter (e.g. https:// www.amazon.com /gp/product/B01LY1NGDO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie= UTF8&psc= 1) or focal tee 1.25". The camera is connected as follows: telescope <- T-piece <- T-ring <- camera. The T-piece is screwed onto or inserted into the telescope, T-piece T-ring is screwed onto the T-adapter, and then the T-ring is attached to the Nikon camera body. The T-ring connects to the camera body just like a standard F-mount lens Warning: This T-ring has confusing markings that can lead to a risky connection. Lenses usually have a dot that the user previously marked with a dot aligns with the camera body m rotate the lens to attach it to the body. There are 3 points on this T-ring and only one of them is correct. There is an additional small white dot next to the correct one. Attempting to use a different point for alignment may result in an unsafe fit (which may result in the camera unexpectedly detaching from the T-ring). Using the correct point resulted in the T-ring snapping into place on the Nikon D90 and D5300 bodies for a secure fit.
