Review on 🏊 SLS3 Tri Mat: Ultimate Neoprene Triathlon Transition Mat Designed by Athletes by Rudy Santos

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Crumpled carpet, does not lie flat

I was looking for a good transitional mat to organize my gear during the race and found it at Revain. There seem to be several mats out there so I decided to compare one of the top rated ones first (Speed Hound T0, Kona T Mat and SLS) before deciding which one to keep. An SLS arrived folded in quarters and had a crease (see photo) which was annoying. The Kona T Mat looked good but is made out of neoprene which I don't like for environmental reasons. Another disadvantage of the Kona T Mat is that the bottom is very slippery. I didn't really notice this key difference until I opened up the Speed Hound T0 and saw that it's made of a different material: soft microfiber on top and grippy on the bottom. Many of the transition zones are on grass, where condensation forms in the morning and a mat without a grippy underside slips. In fact, the Kona T-mat is slippery even when not wet, and on top of that it's slippery too, which can only get worse after a swim - that was the deciding factor for me. Okay, now I'm going to sound crazy, but the Speed Hound mat has a great design too! Finally, the Speed Hound comes with a quick-drying towel that I plan to use when drying my feet after a swim. I'm glad I have all 3 to compare and settled on the best choice which I feel hasn't compromised. So I ended up with 3 mats that looked good and had good reviews and finally settled on the Speed Hound T0 mat. For these reasons: - Sizing seems right for Ironman transition zones - Soft on top, grippy bottom - Comes with a quick drying towel - Love the design! - The "Inspiration" section is very cool
