My German Shepherd went deaf very suddenly after a terrible reaction to a course of ear antibiotics. She is already well trained and knows hand signals. I wanted something I could just call her with. It has worked wonders. I haven't set it above the lowest level and she comes to me when I call her from the remote. It took less than an hour and a few treats, and she understood. I put it on her, stood next to her and hummed softly to her. I immediately gave her a treat and praise. Every time I called her, I stood by. Then I asked the kids to distract them and hid around the corner. She smelled me and came straight at me. Now I can be anywhere in the house, and when she feels that soft hum, she comes right away and finds me. It comforts me that she has this knowledge. When I bought it, I was very careful not to get anything with a shock function. That fits the bill. With lots of treats and praise, my collar for my pup is not perceived as a negative.
