Use/Programmer's opinion - Fiio E10K

First: I'm not an experienced audiophile. I don't know all the technical details of the circuit. I am a programmer, sit at my computer all day and wear my earphones most of the day as we currently have an "open office" layout and this is the worst business decision a company can make. It turns talkative people into beacons, like beacons. I'm not sure, but I think the guy next to me is training his voice and vocal cords to be the loudest speaker in the United States (can't speak for other countries). It makes it very difficult to concentrate on work. I needed a louder sound in my headphones so I started looking into these devices. I can tell you this little device is the bomb! It's well built. It works right after connection. I had to select it as my default playback device, it was easy. I'll be buying Audiotechnica M50X headphones right after Christmas, but for now I'm using pretty standard full-size Bose headphones. These Bose headphones were $100 about 6 years ago, they're not bad but not GREAT. E10K turns off the volume. I can't turn the volume (gain) knob past 3 or 4 without pain. As far as I know, I will tell you that there is no added hiss, hiss or buzz in the E10K. It's absolutely quiet. The sound is now cleaner and slightly more bass-heavy when Bass Boost is on. I mostly listen to morning talk radio and "genre" stations on iHeart Radio from 10:00 am to the end of the day and sometimes songs on YouTube. I like it. I would recommend this to a friend.
