Works well but a little tight

I needed this to replace a cheap plastic lightbox in my open ceiling guest cabin. That's exactly what I need. My bars are exactly the same size when not expanded. It has two small notches sticking out at each end to increase the spacing between the joists. They were right in the way of getting it between my joists easily. I used a rubber mallet to hammer it in place before securing it with screws. The ceiling fan has held up well so far. It definitely hit me when I drove into town to pick it up.
