Worked for me - ceiling fans and accessories

I'm not an electrician, I'm a handyman. So when I was looking for a way to center a pendant light above the stair, I found T brackets to be the best. Solution. Due to the position of the ceiling beam (about 24 inches, but that's not the case as the house was built in 1860) I needed a way to center the light over the stairs. This provided an economical way to center my light with a large beam. gap for the old structure. It can be used in old works if you can access the ceiling from above.

Works well but a little tight

I needed this to replace a cheap plastic lightbox in my open ceiling guest cabin. That's exactly what I need. My bars are exactly the same size when not expanded. It has two small notches sticking out at each end to increase the spacing between the joists. They were right in the way of getting it between my joists easily. I used a rubber mallet to hammer it in place before securing it with screws. The ceiling fan has held up well so far. It definitely hit me when I drove into town to pick it…

Easy install and very strong

I have 2x4 24" center trusses and they were perfect. They are easy to install and although they are rated at 50 pounds mine has easily passed the 190 lb load test (4 lugs included, 2 in each truss). One thing to note is to ensure each mounting plate is perpendicular to the corresponding rafter to allow the outlet box to be level when tightened to the brace FYI - a 4-1/8" hole saw is perfect for a vent box. As this is a hexagonal rosette (not a perfect circle) I only filled in the smallest gaps.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some small things

VERY good light or fan hanger

I've been using them since 2009. But none of my local stores sell them anymore. Last order. That is exactly what is stated. New work or beam access. Are they "easy" to install? It all depends on what kind of access you have and (to put it bluntly) your flexibility. The new design makes this easier, and the cramped attic makes it very difficult. They are very sturdy, the box is big enough for the wires (Hot1, Hot2, Neutral and Ground), all the hardware is included. At the moment all fans fit…

Works as it should. - Ceiling Fans and Accessories

It was installed in a finished garage ceiling with an outlet connected to a wall switch for additional plug in lighting which can later be converted into a ceiling fan if required. Since it is a prefabricated garage, I had to remove the tabs or eyelets protruding from both ends of the mounting plates, otherwise the installation would have been more difficult. After installing the bracket and attaching the box to the bracket, the box will not rotate, swing or move horizontally, making the…

Beautiful and durable, but narrow in places.

I used this to install a track light in my basement office. The ceiling is not finished yet and I wanted to adjust the position of the light between the visible beams. This worked well, but like one reviewer, I had trouble getting this where I wanted due to the uneven spacing of the joists in my ceiling. The mids are all around 16 inches and this rod fits between most of them, but it was extremely narrow in the position I wanted my light in. I was able to hammer it in deep enough to secure it…

Pay attention to the fastening screws in the box!

In general, over time everything was fine. The fixed point mounting screws used to attach the fan may be too short if you have drywall thicker than 1/2 inch or the installation is not flush. Purchasing additional screws is a small change at your local do-it center - literally 0.28 cents for 2. My biggest complaint is the threading for these screws. There is something odd that makes them all cross over when reinserted into mount points. This applies to both original screws and replacement…

Pros
  • Great for a small house

  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly
