I bought this to prolong the life of my MacBook. It originally came with 2GB of RAM. A few years ago an OS update really slowed it down and that made me put it aside. I decided to restore it so I could play around with Xcode, but that required a newer OS version. Upgrading to High Sierra, Apple's highest possible upgrade, rendered the computer almost unusable. A little investigation led me to the conclusion that the problem was the lack of RAM. I chose this kit because it was listed as compatible with Apple and was a good price. After the upgrade from 2 GB to 8 GB, the computer is almost like new again! That was one of the best deals I've made in a long time! If your computer is running a bit slow or heavy (like mine), try upgrading your RAM. Newer operating systems love more RAM, and you can't have too much!
