Review on Enhance Your Audio Experience with the Stereo LINE PRE-Amplifier: Boost Sound Quality by 15DB at 12VDC by Kenneth Broszko

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Went like clockwork!

A little background: I had a strange problem with my Rotel RMB-1512 amplifier: it turned off automatically after 5-6 minutes and it took a few seconds to get back to the network . After some research I found that you need to adjust the amp's input gain with the front panel screws and increase the input voltage (+9dB, which worked on my Denon). However, it seemed to me that with this, the amp would not sound as loud as before, and there was slight distortion. Then this linear gain amp appears. I had the idea of not touching the Rotel sensitivity knobs, just feeding the amplified signal into the amp's universal line inputs. I'm not using the inputs that are meant to play the same music on all channels/rooms. Instead I put two RCA splitters on the left and right channels and fed them to this little device and connected the outputs to my amp's RCA line-in. It worked great for music or 2ch movies, but in Dolby and 5ch it still pushed the amp into quiet scenes or scenes made up mostly of dialogue. So I actually changed my configuration to boost the right and center channels (instead of left and right) through this device and now everything works as it should. I set the gain to 12dB and it just works. I hope this doesn't damage the amp, but the Rotel amp originally had density issues, or maybe it just doesn't match my Denon 3700H. I will let you know if there are any problems in the future. In general, this is a very good device that does not consume much power. I think it's about 0.2A, so I feel better leaving it on and plugged in 24/7. It's even possible to power this thing from the receiver's 12v remote start line, but I haven't tried it yet. It's a bit pricey, but if you need it, you need it. Thanks for reading and YMMV.
