Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Dorman 65217 AutoGrade Oversize Oil Drain Plug: Efficient Solution for Easy and Reliable Oil Changes by Dan Dickey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Problem solved, relatively easy installation

After changing the oil in my old 2005 Saturn Vue at a popular national oil change station, my car started leaking. Upon inspection, it turned out that this was due to a drain plug. Although I was able to tighten the stopper all the way to the top, it just ended up twisting back, suggesting the thread had been stripped. Fully tightening the original plug still resulted in very little leakage, maybe no more than two or three drops of oil a day. Unfortunately, since the vehicle is not used very often, it was enough to pollute the concrete road. This big plug solved the problem. After removing the original plug and draining the oil, I screwed it in by hand but was only able to turn it a couple of times before I needed a wrench. For the most part, he entered relatively easily. But once he got that final three or four turns required, it was hard to sit. It took a lot of patience and strength to sit down fully. The candle comes with a plastic disc. After the oil change, the spark plug was completely dry. After 24 hours there was no sign of a leak. Starting the engine and using the car for a short drive didn't change the result. That's basically enough to solve my problem. I didn't try to erase it just because I don't want to tempt fate. I only change the oil in this car once a year or so, so as long as it doesn't drip onto my driveway I'm not worried about removing it. Taking that back to the oil change shop would cost me more time, money and stress than that replacement bolt and an hour of my time. If you have a small oil leak, try one of these first.
