I'll make a very long story very short. This oversized plug is not suitable, I repeat, not for non-aluminum oil pans. My 1999 Ford Taurus does not have an aluminum sump. So many people writing long reviews here are very very misleading people. This plug is only for aluminum oil pans. I discovered this when I installed the thing in my car, it didn't fit at all, my oil pan is a very hard material, I know it's not aluminum, the bolt is ideal so no broken bolt. So I'm a genius because I'm a genius.

Problem solved, relatively easy installation

After changing the oil in my old 2005 Saturn Vue at a popular national oil change station, my car started leaking. Upon inspection, it turned out that this was due to a drain plug. Although I was able to tighten the stopper all the way to the top, it just ended up twisting back, suggesting the thread had been stripped. Fully tightening the original plug still resulted in very little leakage, maybe no more than two or three drops of oil a day. Unfortunately, since the vehicle is not used very…

Drain Plug for Honda CR-V 2008

Honda CR-V 2008; the last mechanic tore off the drain plug. I sealed it with some dirt and when I removed the stock oil change plug a spring came out with the plug that looked like junk. Thought I'd try this Dorman bolt first before buying a new oil pan. Nice choice! I've never done anything like this other than changing the regular oil several times a year; But from endless videos on YouTube, I knew that when cutting a new thread, millimeters are the key. When I first compared the length of…

The mechanic at the dealer said he noticed oil was dripping out of the drain plug and he thought it just needed tightening, he said "but it just kept turning" until he realized it he was undressed . Of course, as he spun it "in circles," it only ripped off worse, but somehow "that's how it fit when it did." Correctly. When I went to the counter to pay for the service I was shocked at the estimate of $754.40 for an oil pan replacement as I had already looked up the cost of the pan and was able…
