Drain Plug for Honda CR-V 2008

Honda CR-V 2008; the last mechanic tore off the drain plug. I sealed it with some dirt and when I removed the stock oil change plug a spring came out with the plug that looked like junk. Thought I'd try this Dorman bolt first before buying a new oil pan. Nice choice! I've never done anything like this other than changing the regular oil several times a year; But from endless videos on YouTube, I knew that when cutting a new thread, millimeters are the key. When I first compared the length of the Dorman bolt to the stock Honda bolt, I thought I screwed up. The original bolt was about half the length of the Dorman bolt. Another review here about another Honda had a picture that it matched perfectly so I took a chance and tried it. First, I made sure to line up the screw and slowly screw it in until I met medium to high resistance, then screw it in. reverse a few turns. I repeated this process of slowly screwing it in until there was considerable resistance, and then out again and again and again. It lasted forever, like hours. I've never done this before and didn't want to crack the oil pan. Slowly but surely the bolt went deeper and deeper; millimeters forwards and backwards. my hands hurt; took breaks; eaten snacks; but I didn't want to rush anything. The original hole was slowly expanded to a new larger thread size and in half a day the screw was fully seated. From time to time I would unscrew the whole bolt to wash the metal shavings on it and try to wipe the hole clean. When this was finally done I poured a few quarts of oil into the motor to flush the metal shavings through the hole. I'll be changing the oil and filter in a month to flush out more metal shavings just to be on the safe side. I'm very glad that saved me from buying a new oil pan! The bolt does not leak and works well with Honda crush washers! Worth a try! TLDR: Works for Honda CRV 2008, align properly, insert slowly until considerable resistance is felt, and unscrew; Repeat the process for hours, going down millimeter by millimeter. Don't worry, this bolt is longer than the Original Equipment drain plug. Use with Honda washers.
