I'll make a very long story very short. This oversized plug is not suitable, I repeat, not for non-aluminum oil pans. My 1999 Ford Taurus does not have an aluminum sump. So many people writing long reviews here are very very misleading people. This plug is only for aluminum oil pans. I discovered this when I installed the thing in my car, it didn't fit at all, my oil pan is a very hard material, I know it's not aluminum, the bolt is ideal so no broken bolt. So I'm a genius because I'm a genius. I took my oil pan bolt that I bought from a Ford that I had on the car and removed the gasket from the bolt and replaced it with a much thicker one I had, sort of a garden hose washer, dirt thicker than the original, screwed back on and bingo, instant fix. Notta, not a drop of oil. Most of the problem lies in the screw seal. I highly recommend replacing the bolt seal every 3rd oil change and you will never have a bolt leak. It won't work just because the streams are completely truncated, and that doesn't happen. People say that the threads are stripped because oil flows out of them even when the bolt is tightened. So my suggestion is to buy extra gaskets or make your own and replace them frequently, you will never have a leaking pan bolt. i am the genius I just saved you about $500 in parts and labor for a new oil pan and labor. Replacement is not as difficult and expensive as people say. So I just saved you $495 minus the pads you buy now for $5. lol lol
