I really needed a water shoe that I could use for canoeing, tubing and other summer activities on the river. That's what they're perfect for! The outsole gives me the feeling that I won't slip on slippery rocks and also makes me feel protected from all sharps underwater. You are instructed not to wear them on sidewalks or other hard surfaces and I can see why. They definitely don't have the thickest and most durable soles, but that's quite enough to be confident in the river. I wear an 8.5 in almost every shoe and I ordered an 8.5 in this shoe. It sits comfortably and doesn't feel like it's being pulled away by the current.
