Review on Bully BBS 1102 Heavy Duty Protector Universal by Derrick Lowell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A decent product with some drawbacks

Purchased as a step and added protection in the event of a rear impact. The step itself is of decent quality. The caps on each end are complete nonsense. This is a "soft" rubber and not your typical automotive grade outer rubber. They look cheap and are quite loose. I'll be surprised if they actually stay. I might add some sealant/glue to help. A small spacer was included to ensure a snug fit on the receiver and prevent rattling, which was nice. I wish there was a different hole/pin arrangement that would allow the stage to slide about an inch further. It wouldn't make him stick out that much. This wasn't a surprise to me as I could see how far they stand out from all the photos on the internet. I just wish I had the opportunity to fuel it a bit further (I'll consider adding a hole if I get really energetic). It offers a decent step and added protection, so the clearance to the hitch receiver (and the back of the truck) makes sense. It just looks weird (sticks out a lot) and becomes a bit like a shin if you're not careful. With some updates this would be a great addition to my setup. As it is it will do the job for me and for the price I'm happy with it.

Pros
  • is often used to facilitate access to the bed, luggage racks or rear cargo area of a car. The clutch steps serve as bumper protection and can protect against damage from a minor rear-end collision.
Cons
  • Sparse instructions
