Review on Nikon FX NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G Lens - Enhanced for Nikon DSLR Cameras by Aneta Janek ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great product, a pleasure to use.

A short conclusion for those who do not like a lot of letters - an expensive, blurry, slow, plastic lens, which is about the artistry of the picture rather than the technical perfection of the frame. While working on the next series of shots taken on Sigma ART 35, 50, 85, I suddenly realized that I was damn tired of their drawing - everything seems to be in order with the picture and sharp and correct, but damn boring! 50 ka was sold instantly, 85 ku was replaced by Nikon 105 / 1.4 and 35 is still on sale. There was a gap between 35 -105 in which it was necessary to fit a lens, the charisma of the picture of which would not be inferior to 105 / 1,4. It so happened that Nikon doesn’t seem to have half a shot, for my taste the picture with 50 / 1,4D is interesting, but such an elderly glass cannot pull out my d850, at least at wide apertures. So I came to study 58/1.4. Other people's pictures are always better than their own) and having shoveled more than one hundred ravens, having studied foreign forums, I decided to take a closer look. The official price is simply unrealistic, I, as an amateur, can never beat it off, so I bought a used one in a trusted online store with a 180-day guarantee, for more or less sane money (about 55% of the price of a new one). My next happiness arrived quickly, in a standard Nikon kit - a soft case with a paper hood . EVERYTHING! Top (and for the price it’s a top top) lenses are not even supposed to have a wardrobe trunk. First outing first impressions - slow focusing but accurate, lens light and comfortable - perfect for walking. Photos in the computer and look . And if I hadn’t read about this lens, I would definitely have been upset - in open sharpness it’s very mediocre and only in the center, the edge is pulled up to a more or less watchable level only after /4, the center is sharp with /2 . Those. before us is a classic lens of the old sourdough - if you want it sharply, close it. There is a vignette, there is also chromaticity, but without extreme. And what is most interesting - all these shortcomings form a very pleasing to the eye almost film picture with an exceptionally beautiful (in my opinion) pattern in the blur zones !

Pros
  • - picture, drawing, volume transfer - weight and size - af accuracy
Cons
  • - price and equipment - speed af - sharpness outside the center of the frame
