The best purchase in my life, I will definitely buy it again.

According to subjective feelings, the speed is faster than that of a competitor with a red stripe, but naturally it is far from reporting glasses. BB in continuous shooting in natural light leads smoothly. Color shades are pure, without impurities. A little soft at 1.4, but already starting at 1.6 it picks up sharpness. Good sharpness around 2.0

Pros
  • - size and weight - micro contrast - versatility of focal length for portrait photography - picture
Cons
  • - autofocus speed - insufficient sharpness at aperture 1.4 - price

Great product, a pleasure to use.

A short conclusion for those who do not like a lot of letters - an expensive, blurry, slow, plastic lens, which is about the artistry of the picture rather than the technical perfection of the frame. While working on the next series of shots taken on Sigma ART 35, 50, 85, I suddenly realized that I was damn tired of their drawing - everything seems to be in order with the picture and sharp and correct, but damn boring! 50 ka was sold instantly, 85 ku was replaced by Nikon 105 / 1.4 and 35 is…

Pros
  • - picture, drawing, volume transfer - weight and size - af accuracy
Cons
  • - price and equipment - speed af - sharpness outside the center of the frame

The lens is made, unlike the professional line to which it belongs, from composite materials, which, yes, are tough, but still do not belong to iron. This is a new "fifty kopeck" as an adequate balance for the Canon 50 / 1.2 - they are the same in sharpness, and the bokeh is similar. The picture at the exit from the glass is already ready: it behaves perfectly both in the backlight and in the studio (apparently, nanotechnologies still rule here). Chromaticity is not absent, especially on open…

Pros
  • Sharpness, aperture, impressive appearance, hood, case included, light but durable, the final image is obtained without the need for editing, nano-coating
Cons
  • Price, plastic protrusion that adds thickness and length

I'm completely satisfied with the product, it works.

Nikon has the most controversial fix. Many people try to associate the quality, in particular the sharpness of a lens, with its cost. But in reality the situation is different. The optical design of the planar lens, sharpness can only be achieved there if a miracle is performed, it cannot be found on multi-pixel matrices. Nikon continues the tradition of their 58 mm series, there was a nokt with f / 1.2 (hand-polished aspherical element), which is optimized for night shooting, there was 58 f /…

Pros
  • + dimensions + ease of focusing +bokeh
Cons
  • -materials used for the body

Excellent bokeh, expensive

I've owned this lens for about two years. Everything you read is true. Excellent bokeh, expensive and not worth the price for many. I have both this and the 50mm 1.8G. This is the lens that stays on my camera when I leave the house. First, FL is a bit weird. Not exactly 50, but not 85 either. The bokeh is as good as the 85G, if not better. This lens is not as sharp as the 85 but it is sharper than the 50 1.8 GI, I only shoot at 1.4 when needed (low light), I think the optimum is 1.6-2.8 .

Super BOKEH - - SLR Lenses

Many people comment that the lens is soft at f/1.4, but they don't realize that this lens is very useful for people as well as night and landscape photography . You can see some photos taken with this excellent lens on the Truetoad site review section - just google the Truetoad 58mm. The lens is light - the lens focuses quickly - the lens captures color and contrast very well - the lens is very sharp - a great lens for photographing people - yes it is expensive but this lens offers a unique…

Great lens! I hesitated because of the price.

Great lens! I was hesitant because of the price, but the focal range, color reproduction, and design make it worth it. Being a full time wedding photographer holds a camera (even with a quick strap) it puts a lot of strain on my fingers/wrists. This lens is so light you won't even notice it's on. It feels like it's 1/3 the weight of a 24mm or 85mm 1.4! The focal range is simply amazing because you get all the refined versatility of a 50 but not the distortion that the 50mm 1.4 adds to a…

This beautiful lens requires a complex decision

Nikon does not charge extra for the 58/1.4g lens and buying this lens is a very personal decision. Why did you buy those 58? If you want great bokeh and blurry rendering. When you want a shallow depth of field and a dreamy look or shine to your portraits. When you need an excellent low light lens. When you need a lens to replace the 50's and 85's in your camera bag. In fact, the last reason does not get the attention it deserves. Not perfect, but this lens can take portraits like the 85 while…
