Review on Nikon FX NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G Lens - Enhanced for Nikon DSLR Cameras by Agata Koacz ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I'm completely satisfied with the product, it works.

Nikon has the most controversial fix. Many people try to associate the quality, in particular the sharpness of a lens, with its cost. But in reality the situation is different. The optical design of the planar lens, sharpness can only be achieved there if a miracle is performed, it cannot be found on multi-pixel matrices. Nikon continues the tradition of their 58 mm series, there was a nokt with f / 1.2 (hand-polished aspherical element), which is optimized for night shooting, there was 58 f / 1.4, just fast, but they were without AF, and now there is af, the scheme has not changed in general, there is nothing revolutionary in it. Assembled with high quality. But there is a "creamy" bokeh, very soft and plastic, moving from object to object in the distance. Its sharpness starts at f/2. Color rendition without distortion, distortion corrected. The lens is designed for amateurs and connoisseurs, and not for professionals who make high demands on both the image and the materials.

Pros
  • + dimensions + ease of focusing +bokeh
Cons
  • -materials used for the body
