Review on Nikon FX NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G Lens - Enhanced for Nikon DSLR Cameras by Ae Ra ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I am one hundred percent satisfied with the purchase, I recommend this product to everyone.

The lens is made, unlike the professional line to which it belongs, from composite materials, which, yes, are tough, but still do not belong to iron. This is a new "fifty kopeck" as an adequate balance for the Canon 50 / 1.2 - they are the same in sharpness, and the bokeh is similar. The picture at the exit from the glass is already ready: it behaves perfectly both in the backlight and in the studio (apparently, nanotechnologies still rule here). Chromaticity is not absent, especially on open holes, but still less than the classic 50 / 1.4. Very sharp pictures are already obtained at 1.4, as befits pro-optics, no soap, but quite harsh sharpness comes at f / 2, and almost does not differ from f / 4, except for the depth of field. Does not smear with autofocus, behaves decently. For show off, they added volume to it - the plastic cone-shaped protrusion, on which the focusing ring is located, does not implement other tasks, unfortunately, and simply adds one and a half centimeters in length and some amount of thickness, which can be seen from the largest lens (front). But there is a lens hood that immediately refers you to pro-photographers, and the lens itself will add show-off, so the glass will become a necessary accessory for the Nikon D800E for those who like to show off, so that loser photographers salivate.

Pros
  • Sharpness, aperture, impressive appearance, hood, case included, light but durable, the final image is obtained without the need for editing, nano-coating
Cons
  • Price, plastic protrusion that adds thickness and length
