Review on Nikon FX NIKKOR 58mm f/1.4G Lens - Enhanced for Nikon DSLR Cameras by Olusola Reid

Great lens! I hesitated because of the price.

Great lens! I was hesitant because of the price, but the focal range, color reproduction, and design make it worth it. Being a full time wedding photographer holds a camera (even with a quick strap) it puts a lot of strain on my fingers/wrists. This lens is so light you won't even notice it's on. It feels like it's 1/3 the weight of a 24mm or 85mm 1.4! The focal range is simply amazing because you get all the refined versatility of a 50 but not the distortion that the 50mm 1.4 adds to a close-up portrait. I used to shoot a lot with my 50mm @ 1.4G because it could handle it. My only criticism of the 58mm lens is that it doesn't seem to focus as much at f1.4. although f2 is gold. I'm still getting used to it, so that aspect may be mine, but I like it for now. When I want the wider 50mm look, which is rare, I use my 50mm 1.4D from my F3 film bag. Still has autofocus and aperture ring and works with both film and digital! #nikonforlife I've shot 2 weddings and 2 engagements on 58mm so far. Now I tend to switch to 85mm smaller simply because it suits closer 3/4 portraits of two people. If I were shooting a single subject, I would prefer an 85mm perspective. You can see some examples on my website/blog if you're like me and need visual proof of your purchase! WestonCPhotographer.com
