Review on Blank Skin Practice Silicone Tattooing by Sarah Contreras

High Quality 3mm Practice Skins

These skins are great for drawing, shading and practicing almost any skill development technique. When tattooing on real skin, you want the ink to get into the dermis, which is about 2mm deep and the skin 3mm thick, so you can practice depth control. See photo. Other hides are very thin and you run the risk of piercing them and puncturing the table, which quickly leads to blunt needles. Each skin is also individually wrapped which is nice because it keeps your skin clean and reduces the prep work before you get tattooed. I would still recommend that you wipe them down with detergent or rubbing alcohol to remove any grease residue before drawing lines or stenciling. The straps also allow these skins to be attached to specific body parts like arms and legs, which is good because it gives you the freedom to practice on contoured surfaces. These skins are elastic and the surface is comfortable and smooth, like real leather.
