A few weeks after receiving a new iPad Pro 12.9" with Face ID, I installed the ComfortHandle on the tablet as instructed. A few days later, I received a lightweight removable lightweight TPU case that I wanted to add a handle to instead of a handle.* The ComfortHandle was removed exactly following the method shown by the manufacturer in the YouTube video, however a defect was discovered in the center of the display shortly after removal: A small spotted area of blue-green color was visible against a faint background. When tightening the ComfortHandle to remove, I noticed that the thin aluminum back of the iPad deformed.Fortunately, there was no noticeable deformation after the handle came off, but the correlation between the occurrence of the defect after removing the ComfortHandle is a concern tested with them C comfort grip. *The manufacturer of the ComfortHandle advises against using it with a TPU case, but I wanted to give it a try. Since the ComfortHandle is attached directly to the iPad, you cannot use accessories such as the Magic Keyboard. Instead, the iPad can be easily moved between the lightweight case and the Magic Keyboard using a handle attached to the TPU case. So far my experience with the TPU case shows that the grip stays attached with moderate movement. To make experimenting with the ComfortHandle easier, I bought a roll of double-sided tape from 3M: VHB 4950 1" x 15'. For a better grip on the TPU, you can use a longer piece of tape than the manufacturer supplies with the ComfortHandle. Another approach is to mount the ComfortHandle directly onto the iPad and cut a large hole in the TPU case to accommodate the base of the ComfortHandle. The opening reduces the weight of the case but comes with the aforementioned risk of damage of the display when the handle is removed and prevents the use of the Magic Keyboard.
