I love the sound of a well played bass guitar. Not true? I think all the big bands have had great bass players. McCartney. green wood. Novoselich. This list has no end. Many of today's indie bands play and write great bass. I think too many DACs these days focus on vocal clarity, detail and things that focus on the mids and highs of the music. I love DACs like this which can make the start of Come Together by the Beatles really fun and exciting because it has to be one of the greatest opening bass riffs ever right? Actually I use this song to test my audio hardware. This DAC delivers nice, well-placed bass tones. Don't knock, knock part. Deep part Dmmmm. This part of the song is more prominent and positioned more accurately than even the sacred Dragonfly Black, which I also tested. The Black has a better soundstage, but again only if you don't like bass guitars. Audio can be a bit distorted, but what do you expect from a USB powered DAC hosting device? Even black is distorted (at low levels). So it is not connected to the wall. And at least it doesn't have a crazy LED backlight that wastes battery life or slows down performance or both. All in all I LOVE THIS DAC! This improved the sound of my Samsung Galaxy Tab Android tablet, which I had connected to Tivoli Audio One with an AUX cable and an OTG cable (necessary, otherwise it doesn't work). The volume drops a bit, but I can turn the volume up to a fun or even slightly obnoxious level at the Tivoli. However, without such a powerful amp/speaker, you might be disappointed. However, the company makes it clear that this item is NOT FIT FOR ANDROID/iOS. So that's how it works in general, and it makes me appreciate it and not get too picky about its shortcomings. Hope that was helpful. Ouch. AND IT ONLY COST TWENTY DOLLARS! You can get five of these for a black one. I'll take another one in case something happens to this one. Why not? So cheap!
