Works well with 3D but does not transmit audio return channel

After I installed my new HDTV and connected it to my A/V receiver with a 50ft HDMI cable, my Blu-ray player started experiencing video dropouts (even though my DVR was working fine). I researched HDMI extenders and found that they are the only device that supports Blu-ray 3D content at 60Hz. After installing at the TV end of a 50ft HDMI cable, the video dropout problem is gone and my 3D movies play flawlessly. But I cannot use the "Smart TV" functions on the TV because the audio signal is not sent back to the A/V receiver. (I had no problems during a previous temporary installation with just a 6 foot HDMI cable and no extension cord.) I contacted Tripp-Lite Technical Support via email and they responded to a number of questions within a few days. The technician who emailed me didn't know what Audio Return Channel was doing and when I explained it, he replied in a later email that this extender doesn't support ARC. Considering the high price of this device, I find that disappointing. I need to find an alternate way to get the audio from my HDTV to my receiver, which will likely mean running another cable through my attic. I hope the Tripp Lite engineers will address this issue in a future update.
