We had an old model of this gate and have been very happy with it for many years. There are no more children in the house. We use it as a pet gate. This new model (for us) works just as well as the old model and we are happy with both. As we are using them to restrict access to a small pet we believe there is no need to enclose them in a doorway as we did for use as a children's gate. By simply leaning it slightly against doors, it works great as a barrier for small pets. It also allows for quick and easy removal and replacement to allow adult access.
