
I bought this a few weeks ago and it has been a life saver. I have used it when grilling, smoking and roasting meat and fish. I've also used it to check the accuracy of my wired thermometers. The probe is so thin and sharp that the juice does not flow out of the meat being tested. After a while you get a pretty good feel for how long a piece of meat or fish should be cooked to the desired degree of doneness. However, this comes in handy when using different sizes/thicknesses of meat/fish or using different cooking zones (grill or smoker) or different pans and new recipes in the fryer. It reads the temperature in seconds so you can make adjustments to your cooking process and cook meat and fish to perfection. In my opinion, this is part of every kitchen.
