To be honest I live in south-central Illinois so I'm not saying this coat can actually stand up to the 'coldest' weather, but it will coldest state. So we're just below zero here. My son, 10 years old, hates the cold. He is very warm in this coat with both layers and likes to wear the lining separately on warmer days. This coat runs true to size, with nice long sleeves (for my gorilla boy). The zips and other fastenings work well and seem to be very durable at the moment. My only (very minor) complaint is that the hood is quite large compared to the rest of the coat and doesn't have a drawstring or any way to adjust it. My son wears a snug-fitting hat under the hood, which effectively solves the problem.
