Review on ๐Ÿ’ป CalDigit Connect 10G - Thunderbolt 3/4 to 10Gbps Ethernet Adapter for Mac and PC by Steve French

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter.

Nice bulky case. Strong as a tank. The 10Gbe chassis looks thin and tiny in comparison. Data transfer is fast as there is an aquantia aqc107 ethernet adapter inside. So it works with macOS, Linux and Windows. Make sure to disable tcp/ip 6 in windows 10 for aquantia ethernet connection because for some reason windows aquantia driver is not compatible with tcp/ipv6 and internet is slow unless you disable it. It's important to note that this case uses the JHL6340. A controller chip inside that works well with Thunderbolt 3 hosts and now Thunderbolt4 Maple Ridge hosts. Hot-plugging works great with Thunderbolt4. For some reason, NVM26/26.5 Maple Ridge hosts do not hot-plug some Thunderbolt3 cases with a JHL6240/JHL6540 chip, but this venerable adapter is unaffected by this bug. It gets a little warm, but not warmer than my cable. The 10GBE adapter is important. All in all I can only recommend it. Issa, go!

Pros
  • Network adapter
Cons
  • Very expensive
