It easily mounts to my trailer dash and can store my phone in a protective case that also doubles as a backup battery making it heavier than a standard phone. The metal plate is glued directly to the back of the case. This is the best phone holder I have ever used and I have used many of them. It's simple, practical and works. The design of the holder is attractive and unobtrusive - you can't even tell if it's there. My problem with other phone holders is that they are big, bulky and cumbersome when attached to the windshield. This phone holder solves all these problems. I highly recommend this product.
