Review on Altus 170mm Square Crankset with Guard - 28x38x48t, Compatible with 7/8-Speed by Brian Cueto

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quality, smooth running, light and high torque

That's exactly what I was hoping for when it came to the upgrade. It's not as light as high-end parts, but it's definitely on the high-end spectrum because it's a true mountain bike crankset. I added it to a cheap bike as an upgrade to a bike that already had a Shimano Tourney bike that I ride as a hybrid/commuter bike. It replaced the three-piece steel connecting rod. I immediately felt the difference as soon as I lifted the bike. And it drives MUCH better. Shifting is much better and smoother, and there seems to be a much stronger connection when pedaling. I also went for a 170 instead of the 175, which I like a lot better. I can turn much faster and can lean that side down and pedal further that way, even on some steep slopes.

Pros
  • Solid construction
Cons
  • Empty
