I use these lights to illuminate small palm trees. I got them because they are LED and because they do NOT have 8 lighting modes. This was important because I use multiple threads and want all the lights to be in the same mode, ON and not blinking. If you buy multiple light strands with multiple modes, they will turn on in random modes when you turn them on, none of them will match, even if you set the modes the same on all strands when they turn off and then turn on again. You have to reset them so they're all the same every day they turn on. I didn't want a thread to flash differently than the ones it's associated with. Because of this, I was willing to pay more for these lights to always look the same when lit.
