I received the Yantouch EyE1 speaker from a retailer as "for review" and have mixed feelings about actually recommending it for purchase, and I'll explain why. Firstly, the EyE1 easily connects to almost anything via Bluetooth and once paired it can become a good wireless speaker with a number of benefits. The advantage is that you can control some of its actions with a physical remote control. With the remote you can adjust the volume or mute the sound, change the light indicator from a cyclic color to a specific color or to a pulsing mode that follows the music, turn it into a "light" to illuminate the environment, or Set the night mode. .The speaker stand acts as a power switch and turns off the speaker when folded. Installing the HueDJ app adds additional functionality such as setting an alarm and improved light display control. I appreciate the fact that the app doesn't demand excessive "rights" on your phone. HueDJ should also allow you to use two of these speakers as a stereo pair, but I haven't been able to test this feature. nice box which, in addition to the speaker itself, contains a USB charging cable, a small remote control and a rather nice black velvet carrying case. It's all good, but it's not all good. First off, this is a real speaker. I understand that making a small speaker really sound great is not an easy task, which explains why high-end small speakers tend to be so expensive. Unfortunately, EyE1 only sounds "good", but far from "excellent". In short, I'm not convinced. Even with the "Alpine Hort Bass resonance tube" (hole at the back), the bass is not convincing and distortions are audible across the entire spectrum. From a speaker, the sound is clearly "mono" and sometimes painful to hear due to distortion. The HueDJ app isn't the easiest to use. I have no doubt it can be "learned" after all, but as far as I can tell, once you've closed it, you'll need to reopen a nearby speaker, and that's after re-pairing it via Android's native tool. It could have been better. Also, there seems to be a learning curve to understanding how to run a light show. Well, for the overall look, the construction of the Eye1 speaker surrounded by lights is a nice design and you can do some cool things with it, but for me at least it all comes down to the speaker's ability to produce good sound, and in this EyeE1 is missing. The so-called lifestyle features are nice, but I can easily set my phone to wake me up in the morning and we already have night lights, so my biggest concern is how the speaker works as a speaker. Let's hope that new and improved models will come with more advanced hardware and a more functional and interesting application.
