I recently decided to start a YouTube channel with videos of my car from various car trips and trips in my area. Not wanting to dive in, instead spending big bucks on a dedicated camera and mounting right out of the gate, I decided to see how my iPhone 8 Plus would fare after all these things are capable of 4K video these days. I tried a different mount first which I'll get to later which just couldn't hold the phone in place. I then bought it to try, hoping I wouldn't end up using so many of those cheaper mounts that I ended up spending as much as a full camera mount. SETUP: Set up this device. it was pretty easy. Once you find a clean spot on your windshield where the camera is at the desired angle, simply tighten the suction cup and you're done. It has a side adjustment knob that can be loosened or tightened after the suction cup is installed. VIDEO RECORDING AND STABILITY: This mount holds your iPhone horizontally. I mounted mine with the camera on the left side and center of my windshield. Due to the fact that the phone hangs on the windshield with no additional support from this mount, I was a bit skeptical that it would be able to record decent videos without much wobbling. However, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case. I've used it to capture several hours of video while driving on high-speed highways and around town. Driving over bumps at high speed on the freeway experiences a little more bumps and judder than in the city, but overall the video is recorded with decent quality. I would like to add that my video quality was much worse and blurry when I tested some 1080p videos. This is a smartphone camera, so it is possible that it is related to the camera and not the mount. Just a warning for those looking to record in 1080p rather than 4K. My 4K/60 FPS videos turned out great. OTHER THOUGHTS: I've tried using this device as a GPS several times, but due to the more limited landscape view of GPS and the fact that most iOS apps just don't have landscape mode. Version I decided to use a different mount when not recording video. Overall I would say this mount is excellent value for money. For those who just don't want to spend money on a dedicated mount camera at the moment and just want to use the awesome camera you already have in your pocket, this is the way to go.
