This is a fantastic little speaker for the price. The battery life is 4-6 hours depending on the volume. In my experience, it sounds better sitting on the surface, but the light weight and convenient hanging strap make it a great speaker for camping or traveling. The bottom end sound doesn't transfer all that well due to the size, but for the most part my music was still enjoyable with this product. My only complaint was the power/power/battery indicator beeping. They all happen with the same standard volume: too loud. There's already an on/off indicator there, so the sound isn't really necessary. When the battery is low, the speaker will beep at full volume every 30 seconds until you turn it off. Instead of ruining your listening experience during the low battery phase, why not just let the speaker die? Or beep once at the current volume? All the high volume indicators meant I had to turn the thing on and off while it was buried in a pillow or in my pocket to try to mute the sound, and in many cases the low battery hit me because it was so much. louder than the music I hear. But again, you get what you pay for. I don't expect perfect interaction with a product I spent less than $15 on. He plays my music and that's all I can ask for.
