Although the 5 m (16 ft) cable gives you a little more independence, it's a bit heavy and definitely a reminder that you're connected. This is mostly for room-wide use and just a minor inconvenience when seated. I used it to connect my Quest 2 directly to the USB-C 3.2 port of a Quadro RTX 5000. The test on the Oculus Desktop App (Win 10) was different. between 1.6 Gbps and 2.4 Gbps. While I'm not sure where this variability is coming from, it seems to be enough to keep Alyx running smoothly. By the way, that's the same range as the other cable (with 3.0 USB-A connector) and seems to be the limit of the headset. (The cable is only needed to project a PC game onto Oculus, while the latter is not involved in rendering, much like the original Rift.)
