Review on SilverStone Technology Home Theater Computer Case (HTPC)With Faux Aluminum Design For ATX / Micro-ATX Motherboards GD09B by Keith Leach

Not suitable for AMD 2700X with standard cooler and DVD drive

The beauty of this case is that it is compact. The downside is that the design doesn't allow for the installation of a standard AMD 2700X Wraith prismatic cooler AND a DVD/CD drive. The second problem I encountered in this case is trying to install the SSD in the specified location. The screw holes are inserted from the bottom of the case and I couldn't get the screws into the SSD. Maybe if it had taken me another hour or two to try I might have, but I don't have that kind of patience. I ended up installing my SSD with the side fan filter slot on the bottom left so the filter fits LARGER but the bottom sticks out a bit and the SSD is secured with just one screw. Also, I like the way the case looks and my monitor is stacked on top. With dual 80mm rear fans, cooling is enough for extreme processing, but I had to buy an external DVD drive to complete the build with the stock AMD 2700X cooler. I also agree with the reviewer who mentioned that any change would require almost total disassembly (like adding/replacing an SSD etc.).

Pros
  • High support and durability results from testers
Cons
  • Factor set
