Assembling the door is so frustrating that it won't close

The instructions are pretty hard to read so I threw them away and figured it out. The holes do not match the screws. The door cannot close because there is no space. The dowels holding the door are the thinnest I've seen. It came with the plastic exposed so I should have taken the advice that it may already have been a return that has been sent back. The box it came in has already been recycled so I'm not even sure if I can return it. I absolutely regret this purchase. waste of money and time.
