Closing the lid is like closing a heavy car door - pretty safe and strong. Can't comment on longevity as I haven't had it that long and haven't traveled with it much, but overall I'm happy with it. Would recommend to anyone who wants to save a few bucks and be confident in the security of their expensive drone, even if it's just for storage between uses. So far, the only thing I can think of is that the power pack slot is probably too deep, or there should be grooves on the side, like in a drone slot, otherwise a bear will have to get out. It could also apply to the charging station slot, but I don't have one so I don't know.
