As previous reviewers have noted, Rubbermaid has redesigned the filter to match this personalized filter bottle. My guess is that since the filter was on the inside rim of the bottle, the new filter was designed so that the bottle could be filled without changing the position of the filter. Unfortunately, the new design allows unfiltered water to enter the mouthpiece and allows standing water to collect around the filter, leading to mold growth. Leak: good. This bottle will not leak when the main cap is tightly closed. Convenience: Excellent. The lid is attached to a plastic strap so it cannot be lost. Filtering: Moderate. Unfiltered water exits through the filling openings built into the filter. Hygiene: Poor. Because the filter does not sit flush with the lid, water collects on the concave surfaces of the filter and mold quickly develops. The filter does not wash well. Noise: Good. Filling holes built into the filter keep the bottle quiet while drinking, unlike the bobble which makes a loud whistling noise as the air passes back through the filter into the bottle.
