Review on SIMMONS RINGS Simmons 10X42 8971042R by Jeremiah Vishwasrao

Revainrating 4 out of 5

8x42 Great for the price, 8x21 OK

8x42: I bought these on sale for about $20 and am very pleased. To be honest, for the regular price they are good. Very clear image, excellent color reproduction, easy focusing, excellent low light performance, excellent star/satellite view. Looking at a street light, I saw strange halo/starburst effects. So don't do it or you'll think you're having a stroke. I also bought Tasco 8x42 roof prisms. to compare and select at the same time and I must say that I believe that these are exactly the same binoculars with slight aesthetic changes. Both even have the same company address. I'll say the Simmons version has a much better neck strap and at least the packaging mentions weather resistance, although I think they're just saying the rubber coating is water resistant lol. Simmons' overall vibe (packaging, straps, aesthetics, etc.) is better than Tasco. I'm happy, but if both are the same price I'll suggest Simmons. In fact, I've decided to keep both. If you had also passed it on to me and not told me, I would never have known which one is used. 8x21: Great pocket binoculars, although quite heavy. jacket pocket. Optics are clear and sharp, although eye relief is sensitive. Despite the low exit pupil due to the tiny lens, I was able to clearly see the stars and a few faint moons that I would otherwise have missed without it. Meteor binoculars were named after the first time I used those little Simmons glasses. Looking down at my gravel driveway, which I could see clearly with the unaided eye in the dark, it looked matt black through these small binoculars. There has never been binoculars like this. designed for night time use, I just didn't come home to play with them until after dark lol. They came for about $12 and I think it was worth it. below and my small Pentax UCF R 8x-21 compact above in terms of clarity which is closer to an 8x Pentax. The feel in hand and use is actually better than both. A few steps below my Bushnell H2O 8x25 in Clarity (the best 8x compact I own). The strap is rubbish, of course, since it's a hateful cord. The bag fits snugly and has a belt loop. These would be another great day glass for a race or turf gig, although as said they are a bit heavier than you would expect. I'm very happy with them *update* I bought another one of these and it was open. Everything seems fine, but it's tasteless. It was clearly used. Overall quality is below the first pair, with slight aberrations/shine in the left tube. Usable but a bit fuzzy on this side. This is very similar to my Barska pocket binoculars. the other because of it, and the 2nd is worse. Hit or miss with inexpensive binoculars.
