I really wanted to show how this mic works, not just describe it. My idea was to record a few seconds of me blowing the saxophone and then show on the digital audio workstation that it not only picked up the sound but recorded it at a good level. My limitation in this video is obviously the camera itself and possibly the operator. If you don't see any readings on the computer after I've recorded a few seconds, take my word for it - it's a good read. I love that the saxophone recording level is about seven and a half and it happened right away with no extra effort. I will say that I tested it on the clarinet and the clip stayed in place. Sometimes I'm quite an intense player and I move around a lot on a regular basis. I happened to read the instructions for this, so I would like to point out that you should not adjust the microphone even if it is on an adjustable stem. This is more true for saxophones. If you bend it down, the audio may sound bad during recording. That's good because it shows how sensitive and therefore high-quality this microphone is. I would like to point out that I tested it without an effects pedal, which is very important. I've never been able to get a good read on my recording station with just a mic and horn. I always needed at least one reverb or delay pedal to be able to crank the record high enough to handle live drums. It's very impressive that I can get a reading of 7.5x with just this mic. In summary I am very happy with this mic and my home recording is a testament to the smooth and clear sound you can get from woodwinds. I recommend it - I want several.
