Review on Herbatint Permanent Herbal Color Brown by Tammy Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for those who need low ammonia hair dye, just be prepared to play with colors until you find the right one.

I've been salon coloring my hair for years, up until about last year. My hair started falling out and after doing all these tests at the doctor's office I couldn't pinpoint the problem. Until I was shy enough to go to the salon and decided to do it myself. I tried Herbatint, which has a low 3% ammonia content. To my surprise, my hair didn't fall out. I was so excited. After a year of use, my hair has finally grown back and is no longer thin. As for the color, I only use it to paint over my grey. No more fancy highlights for me since I can't do them at home. I put two N colors together and it gives me some light. To cover the gray you MUST use the N series. I have medium brown hair with some golden highlights. I use 4n and 6n. I mix 6 parts 4n with 2 parts 6n. My natural color is dark brown. It will be a little dark at first, but after a few washes it will become lighter. If the color is too light, it will be too light after a few washes. It took me a long time and several boxes of different colors to find the right one for me. Now I only trim my roots for new growth every few months and I love it.
