I have many ceiling fans in my house. And high ceilings. These retractable dusters make it easy to get to high places, while the fluffy composition of the dust collectors captures the smallest dirt. They are easy to clean - I just go outside and hit the top of the fence with the dust head a few times (while standing on the windward side) and it cleans up nicely. I haven't had to wash it yet, but I think if I hose it down, air dry it, and then pat it a few more times to fluff it up, it'll be fine. I gave the second rag to my daughter, who also has ceiling fans and cobwebs in the high corners. For the price this is a great buy.
