This rice bowl is great. My wife is from the Philippines where rice is the staple food. For years she didn't rinse her rice before cooking it, and I was a little concerned about the amount of starch in her diet. We were advised to pre-wash our rice before cooking to wash off excess starch for a healthier meal. We use a rice cooker and before rinsing, the rice bubbles in large quantities until it almost overflows, making the cooker difficult to clean, but now there is no more mess after rinsing. Rice is tastier and doesn't burn on the bottom of the pan like it used to. Simply rinse the rice first, then put everything in a large saucepan and let the rice soak in the water for 15 minutes, then rinse again.
