This little gadget has been a lifesaver for me. I am 62 years old and have been wearing contact lenses since I was 16. I never had any trouble removing contact lenses until a few months ago. I wear soft lenses and have started to develop a dry eye situation. I don't know if that makes my lens removal problems worse, but it's become a 15-minute chore of flooding my eyes with lube drops and then trying to pinch and remove them. It became almost impossible for me to get the lens out of the left stamp and I felt like I was going to scratch and push it out trying to get it off. Eventually I decided to research online and found some lens removal tools and even some DIY solutions, but I decided to give the Opti Wand a try. It took me a few tries to get used to the uninstall process, but it works very well for me. You just have to focus on looking down and through the center tube. And as other reviewers have pointed out, you have to keep your fingers on the cup end/wand tip, the part that sits over the lens. This is the part you pinch to grab the lens and remove it from your eye. If your fingers are on the shaft of the wand, it won't work. 5 seconds have passed and my lenses are off! No more gouging and disappointment.
